While on the neurocritical care and stroke service, fellows take at home night call two weeks and weekends out of the month. While on the general medicine critical care service, fellows take in-house night float call for four nights of the month as well as two weekend daytime shifts. All other rotations are call-free.
Call Responsibilities
Clinic
Fellows have one half day of continuity clinic per week with a neurocritical and stroke faculty member as preceptor. The purpose of clinic is to follow the long-term outcomes of patients who were initially evaluated by the neurocritical care/stroke service in the hospital as well as assess new stroke patient referrals from the community.
Position Requirements
- Graduated and be board certified or eligible from an ACGME accredited residency program or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) accredited residency program in neurology, child neurology, internal medicine, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, or general surgery.
- California medical license
- ACLS certification
- Certification in one or more of the following is desirable: Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS)
- To be eligible for a one-year fellowship, candidates must already have completed post-graduate fellowship training in anesthesia, surgical, or internal medicine critical care that requires at least six months of critical care training. Fellows who have completed post-graduate training in neurosurgery are also eligible for a one-year fellowship in neurocritical care.
