The CPMC Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology offers high-quality training to the next generation of health psychologists, while satisfying licensure requirements in the State of California. As a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC), our training program provides the specialized knowledge and skills needed to function effectively as a principal member of an interdisciplinary team and for a successful transition to independent practice and a career working in hospitals and other medical settings. We combine rigorous education and clinical training with supportive supervision and mentorship that enables our fellows to continue to develop a broad range of clinical and professional competencies. Our faculty are committed to creating an excellent training experience, providing an array of seminars, case conferences, and individual and group supervisions. We have established partnerships with a unique combination of medical programs at CPMC, enabling our fellows to gain clinical experience in working with cancer, cardiology, GI and OB-GYN patients and their families, all within well-integrated interdisciplinary settings.

About CPMC
California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) is one of the largest private, not-for-profit, academic medical centers in California and is an affiliate of Sutter Health. Our affiliated doctors and hospitals serve more than 100 communities in Northern California, including the San Francisco Bay Area. CPMC’s mission is to serve the community by providing high-quality, cost-effective healthcare services in a compassionate and respectful environment that is supported and stimulated by education and research.
CPMC’s vision is to be a leader in the transformation of healthcare and to achieve the highest levels of quality, access, and affordability. Our core values include excellence and quality in the delivery of services to patients, innovation in providing care to patients, affordability of care, teamwork, and integrity.
As detailed above in the mission statement, CPMC is committed to high-quality advanced education. As a private, multi-campus tertiary teaching hospital, CPMC offers a unique and rewarding educational experience through several medical education programs. The Department of Psychiatry, led by Chairman Alan Newman, M.D., supports dozens of psychiatry residents, psychology interns and fellows, and medical students per year to further the hospital’s mission of educating the next generation of health professionals.
CPMC’s mission is to meet the healthcare needs of all of our community members. Our community-based approach to care allows us to provide access to those who cannot afford healthcare and support programs for those in financial need. The fellowship program is supported by a combination of hospital funds and philanthropy, enabling us to provide psychological services at no cost to our patients.
