The CPMC Psychiatry Residency Training Program draws residents from around the United States. This diversity of backgrounds adds to the cultural variety experienced while in San Francisco. After residency, 35% have pursued fellowships, 20% joined university-based or private-hospital based mental health clinics, 13% have joined community private psychiatry practice groups and 12% have chosen to work for the State of California prison system. Many graduates have remained involved with the Psychiatry Department post graduation.
