Applications for Internal Medicine's Categorical (three-year) and Preliminary (one-year) residency programs must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
M.D. and D.O. graduates from U.S. schools may register for ERAS through their Deans' offices. The ECFMG serves as the Dean's office for all IMGs. A "Request for an ERAS Application Kit" is available on the ECFMG home page.
Standard Application Requirements are:
- Standard 2022 ERAS application
- Supplemental ERAS application (not mandatory but highly encouraged)
- 3 letters of recommendation (one of them preferably the chair’s letter)
- Personal Statement
- Transcripts
- USMLE Scores
- Dean’s letter
For the 2022 ERAS® cycle, our program will strongly encourage all applicants to complete a supplemental ERAS application, offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. Applicants also will be required to complete the MyERAS application.
The additional information collected will help our program staff learn more about applicants’ medical education journey, including more meaningful information about work, volunteer, and research experiences, and will help us better identify applicants who fit our program environment and mission.
This supplemental ERAS application will be delivered on a survey platform that is separate from the MyERAS application and must be completed between September 1-30.
Interviews are by invitation only. We begin reviewing applications on October 1. Following the review of your application, you will be notified by e-mail as to whether or not you have been selected for an interview.
