Dear Residency Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in the new Emergency Medicine residency program at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. This program has been thoughtfully designed to bring to life Sutter’s commitment to safe, equitable and compassionate care by preparing future physicians for a fulfilling, successful and mission-driven career in medicine.
Sutter Roseville is a Level II trauma center serving a broad swath of Northern California, with a diverse and complex patient population that speaks more than 100 languages and lives in widely varying socioeconomic circumstances. Recognized as a leading center for the treatment of traumatic injury and illness, SRMC began as a community hospital and retains that sense of connection and shared purpose.
The Sutter Roseville emergency department sees approximately 90,000 patients per year with a wide range of medical and trauma needs. Underpinned by the resources of Sutter Roseville and the Sutter Health network overall, this will provide an excellent learning environment for the practice of emergency medicine. Residents will develop their skills in caring for critically ill patients while also engaging with a number of other specialties to obtain in-depth knowledge of pathophysiology and treatment. They will also participate in quality improvement initiatives, be matched with research projects that align with their interests and goals and find substantive support for their wellness.
Through the entire program, they will be guided, mentored and supported by an extraordinary group of medical professionals. Our physicians and care teams are not only willing to share the knowledge and practices that truly set Sutter Roseville apart — they’re eager to do so, and to learn as well. Our first emergency medicine residents in 2023 will have the opportunity to partner with physicians at the top of their fields to develop this graduate medical education program from the ground up.
On behalf of these clinicians, the entire Emergency Medicine team and the Sutter Roseville administration, we welcome your interest in our program and look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Linda Herman, MD, FACEP
